Saturday Classes for P.S. 158 Families
Thirteen blocks down York — the Saturday class is the one that works.
P.S. 158 occupies the full block of York Avenue between 77th and 78th. We're thirteen blocks south, on East 65th — a fifteen-minute walk down York, or a short ride on the M31 or M15.
We're not going to pretend that's around the corner. For Bayard Taylor families the honest recommendation is the Saturday afternoon dance class: nobody is trying to cross thirteen blocks at 4pm on a school day with a tired seven-year-old, and on a Saturday the same trip is a pleasant walk.
If a weekday is what you need, the Tuesday music class at 4:30 is the most forgiving — the later start gives you room for the bus. But we'd rather set the expectation properly than have you sign up for something the calendar won't sustain.
The studio is deliberately small. Classes cap out at a size where the teacher knows every child's name in the first week, which is the part that tends to matter more than distance once families have tried it.
The class we'd suggest first: Dance, Saturday 2:30 PM
Saturday at 2:30 is the realistic choice from Yorkville. The trip down York is easy on a weekend, the class doesn't compete with homework, and an early-afternoon start leaves the morning free for everything else on a Saturday.

- From York Avenue, head south toward East 65th Street.
- Or take the M31 down York, or walk one block west and take the M15 down 1st Avenue.
- We're at 325 East 65th Street, between 1st and 2nd — a few doors in from 1st.
One honest note: we are not a daily after-school or childcare program. We don't cover the 3–6pm window every weekday and we don't provide homework help. What we offer is one meaningful class a week that your child looks forward to — the opposite of another full-time commitment.
