Kids Classes One Block from P.S. 183
We're around the corner — one block south of the school doors.
Of all the schools near our studio, P.S. 183 is the closest — the walk is one block and a half, and it takes about four minutes at a five-year-old's pace. For families at Stevenson, that changes the arithmetic of an after-school activity entirely: there's no crosstown bus, no cab, and no thirty-minute buffer built into your afternoon.
That proximity is the whole pitch. A weekly class only sticks if getting there is easy, and most Upper East Side enrichment involves a trek. If your child is at 419 East 66th, ours is quite literally the studio around the corner.
We take children from age 4 through the teen years, in small groups, taught by working theater artists and dancers. Most families come once a week. Some come twice. Nobody is asked to sign up for five afternoons.
The class we'd suggest first: Music, Tuesday 4:30 PM
Tuesday at 4:30 is the easiest slot for Stevenson families — it's a weekday, and because the walk is only four minutes there's a comfortable gap between dismissal and the start of class without needing to fill an hour somewhere.
About the music classWalking from P.S. 183 (about 4 minutes)
- Leave the school on East 66th Street and walk west, toward 1st Avenue.
- Turn left on 1st Avenue and go one block south to East 65th Street.
- Turn right — we're a few doors along at 325 East 65th, between 1st and 2nd.
One honest note: we are not a daily after-school or childcare program. We don't cover the 3–6pm window every weekday and we don't provide homework help. What we offer is one meaningful class a week that your child looks forward to — the opposite of another full-time commitment.
We may be able to arrange pickup from your child's school. It depends on the day, the dismissal time, and how many families need it — so please ask and we'll work out the details with you directly.
